how do i run an external program in the background without interfeering with the one in the foreground, what im trying to do is add music to my games but i just cant quite figure out how so i want to run media player or whatever in the background but i dont want it to halt my game in the foreground any suggestions?

just use fmod there sould be some example code for it in the FB package.

or if you want to go the hardway find some info on directsound API
next of a thread and write your own mp3, wav, what ever player.

If you do need to run a program in the background, SHELL should work.

EDIT: Hrm... no, it doesn't.  SHELL waits until the program exits.

You really should take the time to learn how to do it inside your own program.

Not only is it nicer, it also gives you greater controll
