If I'm not mistaken, Bascom was the name of the first compiler for Basic code, back in the 1980's. Bascom would compile regular, interpretive Basic Code, like BASICA, GWBASIC, etc. Then came Bascom2, and then, I think, came QuickBasic 3.0.
