Chocolate good, easter eggs good, Cadbury creme eggs goooood.

New Zealand have just introduced new laws for working on public holidays. My work got late licenses to allow us to stay open until 3am on Easter Friday and Sunday, for the hours after midnight I got paid time and a half and a day in lieu.

On saturday night we had a foam party. We had a foam making machine hanging from the ceiling running for most of the night, at the start of the night the dance floor was completely waste deep in foam. The place was an absolute mess, bubbles everywhere, but tons of fun. The only problem was that we had to clear 400 litres of soapy water out of the bar at the end of the night ;-)

LooseCaboose, sounds like fun, I've always wanted to go to that kind of party Cheesy I think businesses should be able to open on religious holidays if they want to. Those who wanna take time off can, and have it discounted from vacation. I wanted to go out yesterday, but everything was closed, which I thought was dumb  :normal:

Thats currently being debated in New Zealand. Its seems that the main argument for keeping the religious holidays is that we done it that way for so long, so why change?

Also, without dragging up the whole religious debacle again, we seem to only have Christian holidays off here. New Zealand is one of the most diverse countries in terms of races, religions and cultures, yet we only honour a few of them. We should either honour all religious holidays (In which case I would have to work very few days a year ;-)) or allow businesses to choose which holidays they wish to honour.

Canada is the same way, especially around the Toronto area. Since Canada has been going the way of the liberals in the last few years, it'd be nice to see them do the same thing with holidays. Of course, the USA will never do that, but hey, one country at a time, right? Cheesy

The issue that always gets the spotlight at Easter is that the garden centres always remain open no matter what the law says Wink
