i cant figure out how to make a program like, know where itself is. i mean its easy to get the workinng dir, but i mean how can you tell a program where it actually is, so it can be 'directory independent'? thanx in advance

Use relative paths and it won't matter where your program "is".

thanx plasma, i thought my prog couldnt find my tile files (hey that rhymes ;P)
but actually it was just that i had an empty map file. thank u much bro.
