i'd say we should create a dedicated coders music site instead of opening a subforum here. i can provide some space on my server so we can upload stuff there too. but my php skillz are rusty so actual site making is up to a volunter :p

I can pump up a forum in my webspace when I have time, then leave it running. But I'll do it if you'll follow and contribute.

A phpBB2 or whatever can be installed in 10 minutes, so I'll give it a chance.

I think I'll use UPB instead, it's small, fast, I know how to peek in the code, it allows file uploading easily and doesn't use a database (which is a bummer to configure with my shitty interface - that's what cheapo hosting has Tongue).

So, your thoughts?

Nice. It's done. Beautifully simple and (methinks) working. The url is this:

http://www.ojodepez-fanzine.net/network/underbasic/gold

I'm looking after some redirection service so the URL is easier to remember.

May you help me to test-drive the site?

C'mon, join! Smiley

You could try www.dyndns.com they offer url redirection.. then you could get something like:
underbasic.mine.nu

Interessting idea.. i like it =)
I'd be up for offering some hosting too
Maybe FileAnchor could be nice and offer something?

I'm pretty interested. Gimme details and I'll anounce it in some kind of FAQ and in the announcements section.

Thanks for the pointer, I'll create the redirection now.

Well, if nothing else i guess you could always just tell people that FileAnchor exist. http://fileanchor.com

As for the hosting i'd offer i guess i could spare up to 10gb or so of serverspace..
Just some basic http based upload thing that returns an url, nothing fancy..

But it could be used as some sort of pretty much permanent database (until it grows too large ofcourse) for people who dont have their own sites/hosting

Yeah, that sounds awesome. You could always script it so it has a maximun storage and when a new file surpasses that maximum the system deletes the oldest or the least downloaded files. That way you can leave it working and forget about it.

May you want to be my co-admin? Wink

Oh - msn, that thing. Of course, I'll connect later if I find a gap. Sure, let's continue there. A populated forum is more appaling to newcomers Cheesy
