Title: Alright, let's try this again: QB Game Remake Challenge!
Post by: Rokkuman on January 28, 2004, 12:20:38 AM
Okay, here's the mission:

-Remake a QB game that was made BEFORE the year 2001. That doesn't narrow it down too much.

It would be interesting to see people's versions of QBCookie and stuff like that. Good luck... hope anyone does this one.

Was DWII made before 2001?

Either 2002 or 2001. Both are close enough. If that was your choice, go for it... ;)

That was a bad response. Is there some time limit? What are the rules? etc... you need to give details =P

The trouble is, both qb45.com's and neozones.com's file archives are now empty or not working... where can I find games to remake?

qbasic.com has a working games section in the downloads section.

[EDIT] After brousing through the link you supplied, na_th_an, I found a new and obsure rule for chess!  Its called En Passant (the pass???).  Its where you move your pawn two spaces forward on its first move and it ends up next to your opponents pawn.  you opponent can then call out En Passant, and move his pawn to where your pawn would have landed had you only moved it 1 square.  your opponent then removes your pawn from the board.  this move is only avalible to your opponent on his first turn after you move your pawn two spaces.

[Example]
0' <--oponent pawn

'1<--your pawn
moves to
01

moves to
'1
'0

moves to

'0

[/Example]
Has anyone else heard of this rule before?  I haven't.

Okay, here are additional details:

Time Limit: Before May 2004

...and that's pretty much it. As long as the game is identical to the original, it's good. Pffft, heck, I'll remake QBCookie as an example...

You've never heard of En Passant? Heheh, guess you haven't played much chess. :D  J/k
My dad taught me that, when I was on my Chess spree.

Yeah, it's a standard chess rule.  Here's another, less known about move:

The King's Karate

I was introduced to this move while playing my friend's older brother in a game of chess once.  I was up a few pieces and was on my way to victory, when he suddenly made an amazing move.  What at first appeared to be his resignation from the game turned out instead to be a clever employment of a rule he called "King's Karate".  It goes something like this:

Prerequisites:
1. You must be playing a pick-up game against your younger sister's friend.
2. You must be clearly losing.

Method:
1. Pick up your King.
2. Knock over opponent's King with your own.
3. Declare victory.

Just thought you all should know about this oft-forgotten chess rule.

*peace*

Meg.

There's also an oft-forgotten chess rule. It was useful when I got bored of playing endless games with my dad and brother, and didn't want to finish the current game: Take your kind, and flip it upside-down. Game over.

What I am gonna do is an update. I don't have the time for a full-time project. I'll fix the movement routine a little bit and update the maps to make it easier.

That would make testing it out involve less ALT+TABBING. :)

Ah... come on you guys. The point isn't to remake your OWN game.. it's to take someone else's and make your own version.

Bah, just wait, I'll whip up a Cookie Delivery or MiniRPG remake...

In fact, PJ, this is a great idea. It's a pitty that people don't think the same. If I had the time I'd be working on something, but I don't :(

I'ts FRUSTRATING! It's been 1 year since I coded a line for a project of mine :(

This is a pretty good challenge idea, but I don't think people right now have the time, and those who do are mostly consumed with qbasic.tk's challenge :D

I would hardly call nathan's game "adult". the nudity is scarce compared to say, adosorken's games.

Same stuff again. Many people can't take sex appart from nudity. I think it is perverted to see sex where there is not. I can't believe how people can find their own bodies grossy. And I am talking about people over 18.

When I was developing the game I showed it to some friends and everyone said "hey, nice pictures!", and nothing more.

Anyhow, I don't wanna bring this issue back once again :D nor I wanna hijack PJ's post.
